Jan Fischer studied law at the University of Passau, and was admitted to the Bar in 2001. Since then he practices law in Düsseldorf.
He is specialised in the area of mergers and acquisitions, as well as corporate and commercial law. In addition, he regularly advises on bankruptcy/insolvency issues.

Jan Fischer regularly advises companies, shareholders and managers / executives with regard to the drafting of contracts (e.g. limited liability companies (GmbH), stock corporations (AG), limited partnerships (GmbH & Co. KG) etc.). He also advises with regard to shareholder meetings, matters of liability (including D&O insurance), and in contract disputes. Over the years, he has advised buyers and sellers in numerous corporate transactions and group restructurings. In the area of mergers and acquisitions, he received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Münster in 2004. In addition, he has intensive knowledge of aviation law, representing an airline company over many years.

In addition, Jan Fischer regularly advises in the area of insolvency law, particularly regarding Management Board/ CEO and shareholders' liability in make-or-break situations and / or insolvency cases. He assists with applications for insolvency, and with providing advice to creditors, if there is the threat that a business partner will become insolvent. In this area, he regularly acts for and against insolvency administrators if the matter relates to director or shareholder liability and insolvency contestation rights.

In the above-mentioned legal areas, Jan Fischer is an active litigator for plaintiffs and defendants.

For several years he worked for the international law firm Beiten Burkhardt Anwaltsgesellschaft mbH and the law firm Kluth Rechtsanwälte. In 2008, he founded Schröder Fischer Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH together with Carsten Schröder. Jan Fischer’s work is focused on international business, and his clients profit from the fact that he grew up in the US.
